Foundations in Tilt-Up Design

Tilt-Up Design

Examples of tilt-up construction can be found beginning in the early 1900's, however in recent years it has become a more widely utilized form of construction. As with all forms of building construction, the tilt-up industry has gone through regulatory code updates and standardization. These insure consistent design and building methods for each project. Joe Steinbicker, PE, SE, began working in the tilt-up industry in 1976 and founded Steinbicker & Associates, Inc in 1982. Over time Joe saw the need for proprietary software that could assist his team in delivering tilt-up designs more efficiently. Steinbicker & Associates began developing their own technology and software to do just that. The result is a software package which has been utilized on hundreds of tilt-up projects to effectively deliver structural designs and drawings.

Joe founded Tilt-Up Design Systems, LLC (TDS) in 1989, and now brings that technology to market as Tilt-Werks®. As an integral part of TDS' collaboration website, Tilt-Werks® allows for online project communication and features structural design and material estimating/costing capabilities. Joe has over 32 years experience in the design and construction of structural steel, precast and tilt-up buildings. Joe and his team have been responsible for the design of more than 900 tilt-up buildings encompassing over 65, 000,000 square feet throughout the Eastern United States, Puerto Rico and Canada.
